Manufacturing Video Production Do’s and Don’ts
As you get started on your industry and manufacturing video, there are a couple things to keep in mind. Make sure to reference these do’s and don’ts as you go through the process. Or you can always give us a ring, and our team would be happy to help with any questions!
When producing a manufacturing video, we always make sure to do the following:
- DO outline the key takeaways – what are the top things you want the viewer to walk away with? Be sure to highlight these visually and within the voiceover script. It may be even more effective to list those key takeaways on the screen with motion graphics, so let us know if any animation or motion graphics will be needed for your video.
- DO think about timing – you want to make sure you have enough time to fit in everything in. Also, be conscious of the viewer. Are they going to zone out after a certain amount of time? When the viewer is going to be paying the closest attention? Save the most important items for the beginning and end of the video.
DO focus on lighting – warehouses and factories can often be dimly lit. If you don’t utilize the correct lighting equipment, your viewers may have a hard time seeing whatever it is you’re trying to show them. We’ve got all the equipment you’ll need to ensure that every shot is well-lit and clear for the viewer.
And of course, there are things we make sure to avoid in manufacturing video production:
- DON’T skip steps – if you’re producing a training video, be sure that you’re as explicit as possible. Even if there are steps that are repeated or seem self-explanatory, be sure to cover them either visually or in the voiceover. You never want an employee to come back and say they didn’t know they had to do that step because it wasn’t in the video.
- DON’T lower quality – if your video is for external purposes (marketing, educational, etc.), you want to be sure that your video is of the highest quality. This is a direct reflection on your company. If your video is poor quality, then viewers tend to draw negative associations about your company as well. On the flip side, a high-quality video is a great first impression and will kick any relationship off on the right foot.
